Can DP cable cause this issue?

Hey guys, recently i realised some sort of static glitchy screens happening on my main display. happens randomly, can be in game can be on start up. sometimes it appears greenish sometimes grey lines i'll upload an example of what i will get sometimes in game. This happens <1 sec or even faster that i won't have time to take a shot or something. So the pic is just for illustration.
This problem can happen once in a week, or once in 2 days. No pattern observed.
Can even occur during bios splash screen
2nd monitor does not have this problem when it occurs on main monitor.

I havent buy a new dp cable, really scared might be gpu related issue. Drivers all freshly installed, gpu is 2.5 years old. Temps are fine.
Just want to know if any of you experienced this from bad cables.

This does sound like a loose contact of some sort.

First test I would do is to switch the primary and secondary monitor assuming that you're using the same ports (HDMI or Display Port). If the problem moves when u switch inputs on the monitor side then the problem is with the cable.

Let us know how you get on with this and then we can proceed to troubleshoot further.

I haven't experience this with bad cables but I must say that DP cables those not certified ones cause me a lot of problems back then. For example they cannot drive 4K 60frames... that is some thing i faced with a lousy cable.

Yes I have experienced a crap quality HDMI cable when I did my build last month. I thought my PC was not able to POST. After a fair bit of time troubleshooting I finally realised it was the crap cable. I have since switched over to DisplayPort.

Always a good idea to validate cables before doing a new build.

As of now Im using the one supplied by prism, the issue is not too big to the point where I can't use or game on. Ive ordered a new cable for 20ish dp 1.4 cable.

Based on my experience, a faulty or substandard display cable generally will cause flickering, or simply don't work. I am not aware it will cause graphical distortion.

Can you change the cable of the "faulty" display with the one that is working and see if the same problem persist? If your monitor's got DP, I believe it should also have a HDMI port.

I have experienced this exact distortion with a faulty HDMI cable before. Thankfully I had 3 cables to test and the other 2 worked out well. My hunch is the DP cable of yours, hope it will be all good when you receive the new one.

Grats! DP Cable is the only display cable so far that I find quality does matter purely because the rated version it supports is most probably overstated by the cheaper ones. HDMI not so much.

For me it's the opposite. There are lots of cheap crap quality HDMI cables out there. I have a long one that threw me off when I was building my recent PC. Computer would not POST and turns out it was the damn cable. Works for certain laptops but not for this PC or my MacBook.

As for DP, they have been rock solid but then again I have not bought any 3rd party cables. Only used the ones that came with the monitors I purchased.
