Can iPad receive SMS?

Bought iPad mini 2019 LTE from Singtel Combo plan.
Able to use data, but it seems like I cannot receive SMS.
Does anyone have any idea?

I don’t think can, at most it will sync the sms from the iPhone under same Apple ID
