This is my Dell Alienware:

Aiming to get this because it is using copper heat sink which conducts and dissipate heat faster:

This youtuber tested this ssd heatsink in his pc together with many other ssd heatsink. The heatsink in the 2nd video has the best cooling that he has tested. Then another youtuber tested that best cooling heatsink and it lost to jonsbo heatsink. The jonsbo heatsink cost only 33.90 rmb on taobao. https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=579986114594

The 3 chinese videos can use youtube settings auto-translate subtitle to english.

Think the 乔思伯 M.2 cannot ship cainiao.

The videos shows that these SSDs really need heatsink though.

Can search in shopee or lazada how much is that jonsbo heatsink with shipping. Sometimes can be about same price or cheaper than taobao.

Anyway I did not buy. I think I will wait for black Friday.

Now amazon increase the price to 600 plus to prove that it was a good deal. :s13:

Actually not much difference using heatsink for Nvme. I using 2x Nvme without heatsink, the temp is ard 43. As long ur casing has ample cooling fans will able to cool down the temp inside ur casing.

And most M.2 SSD will throttle if it is too hot.

Not sure ssd can tolerate how much time of exceeding thermal ceiling. Seem like an important parameter to manufacturers. My ssd have record of how much time it exceeds the thermal ceiling. Need to use smartmontools or hwinfo to view it. Even 9 years old sata ssd also has it and even more detailed, got lifetime min and max temperature, average.

Reviews that stress test ssd only do it for few minutes to at most few hours.

Read that some ssd may suddenly disappear from os and bios when overheated. It is the same as sudden power loss. May corrupt data or even the firmware.

nvme drive
Drive Temperature: 39 °C
Warning Temperature Threshold: 84 °C
Critical Temperature Threshold: 88 °C
Time Above Warning Temperature Threshold: 0 minutes
Time Above Critical Temperature Threshold: 0 minutes

sata drive
Current Temperature: 33 °C
Average Short Term Temperature: 35 °C
Average Long Term Temperature: 37 °C
Operating Temperature Range: 0 - 70 °C
Lifetime Temperature: 29 - 50 °C
Lifetime Average Short Term Temperature: 34 - 40 °C
Lifetime Average Long Term Temperature: 37 - 37 °C
Time in Under-Temperature: 0 minutes
Time in Over-Temperature: 0 minutes

Usually if SSD overheat it should still be present just that when you try to copy or use the drive.
You can experience very severe lag/slowness cuz the speed is being lowered.
If it disappear from motherboard BIOS, it means the drive is dying soon.

Have to backup and replace it cuz eventually it will disappear for good.
