I've been getting tons of reboots with no warnings or BSOD. Using 8.1

Sometimes it even restarts during loading screen or right after POST. Sometimes it refuses to even boot, the screens wont even power on.
The fans would spin up, then average out, then spin up again, and it repeats over and over if it refuses to boot.

the p8p67 evo board has 3 LEDs on it for VGA,RAM and CPU. These 3 will take turns to light up, if it refuses to boot, the VGA LED will remain lit, if it keeps resetting, the CPU and RAM will take turns to light up.

I tried taking out 1 stick, trying all 4 slots, no avail.

I stopped playing with hardware for a few years so I have no spare parts to test if its my motherboard, ram, cpu or PSU.

So.... yeah... i cant troubleshoot.

edit: how nice, i just realised my system specs are on the right.

Download memtest86 and run on each memory stick or else bring rig to Nigel.

I had 2 cases of severe system reboots over the years. it was the rams' faults. the rams restarted the PC at any stages, loading screen or windows, all types of errors were recorded ( blue screen of death ).

All 3 LED Light up at the same time?

Sounds like a RAM or PSU problem.

You can check the voltages. If they are too low or fluctuate too much, you have a dying PSU.

I used to have this problem too and this is what I did to resolve it. (Turned out to be my gfx card which is not seated properly)

1) Reseat everything in your PC.

RAMs/Gfx card/Connections to your hdd/ssd like the sata cable and all your power connectors like pcie cables to your gfx card. Basically anything that can be loose overtime. Make sure that they are securely seated. Many times this resolves many weird problems with your PC.

If this doesn't resolve it, then take the following steps:

2) Test your memory with memtest/memtest86.

This will eliminate any probability of RAM problems. If memtest fails then confirm is RAM problem. Test each stick individually to find the faulty stick.

3) Test your CPU stability using Prime95 or IntelBurnTest if its overclocked.

If it fails then your CPU is unstable. Reduce or don't overclock.

4) If the above tests don't show any problems, it could be your PSU failing.

To test, run some intensive apps or just run Unigine benchmark or some intensive games and run for 30 mins or so to check for power stability.

Hope that helps.

I reseated all my components already, sound card and gpu, sata cables everything is properly connected.

i tried to run memtest, but the funny thing is the pc wont stay on long enough to run anything useful, it reboots 10 seconds in.

i cant go in to control panel to off auto restart nor run prime95 as the system reboots before i have the chance to do anything.

in short, if i manage to get into windows, it reboots soon after, most times it just reboots at POST, or during loading, it even reboots when i enter the BIOS.

I suspected it was the RAM and from some feedback here, i think its very likely to be the RAM. I dont have a voltage meter to test my PSU though.

You can try enabling the integrated graphics and take out the graphics card. See if you can boot.

Nothing out the ordinary, I tried increasing voltages for the ram, didnt really work out either.

highly likely is the ram problem, just test it with a spare ram to see if it still restart, i encounter this problem before, the pc just keep offing and on ing without even go into windows...

no spare ram to test.

but i think its ram also, gonna buy a pair later and hopefully that's the end of this, otherwise its gonna be a huge headache.

and no bloated caps, i checked already. i shine a torch into the PSU to try and see if anything is bloated... couldnt see much. not gonna open it and shock myself, once bitten...

take out the black power cable from psu and what ever video port to monitor.

give the pc 2/3 mins for power discharge.....

should be ok to touch after that....

Can't you test using a single? After all, yours is a kit of 2 pieces.
