Can recommend an SSD to replace HDD boot disk?

U guys might be very astonished, but I still haven't bought an SSD.

Would like to buy an SSD to replace my HDD boot disk (it is 2TB). What are your recommendations? Just SATA will do, no need NVMe.

By the way, what is the current lowest $/TB for SSD? From what I found, is it 2TB, since I find that the price for 4TB more than double that for 2TB, while the price for 1TB is more than double that for 2TB.

If you are looking at SATA SSDs, you should consider Crucial MX500. I normally get from Amazon SG, and the cheapest 2TB is 265 SGD. One of the best value vs performance SATA based SSDs out there in my opinion.

I don't think its cheap, and in my opinion, there is nothing that great about Samsung SSDs as they tend to be overpriced.

I would recommend steering clear of Kingston and Adata. Durability of drive aside, I feel their shady practice of replacing components with slower ones make their SSDs hard to recommend. For all it matters, you may see glowing reviews for their drives, but you may not necessarily be buying the same drive as what was reviewed because they downgraded something in there quietly while keeping the same model name.

I feel the drives perform pretty much at the same level. But I will recommend WD SN750 as well because, it is usually cheaper. Just buy from Amazon and you get warranty coverage by Western Digital Singapore as well.

Recommend if you want fast SATA SSD get the new Samsung 870 EVO.
Get either 250GB/500GB than use HDD for data/backup.

I will advice avoid cheap SSD, they maybe fast but reliability and endurance is questionable.
Currently Samsung 860 250GB goes around $64 and the new 870 goes around $69 with 5 years local warranty.
Cheaper SSD may come with 1 to 3 years warranty only.

For me, i think Samsung is for the quality control, i see whether the price differences worth the differences in reliability
Warranty coverage is also good to me like having insurance
I personally bought evo 960 lah cos i noob, want my installation the chances to be as smooth as possible...
