If you really need USB3 can go get PCIe USB3 addon.

imho eSATA is still better for External HDD.
Using USB2 on USB3 boh simi real speed gain.

eSata is nice in theory only. In practical, it hardly ever works.

I bought the Asrock B75M DGS for my father. Seems quite ok. Although haven't change to USB 3.0 casing yet.

Wait for H81 motherboard to come out... USB 3 built into chipset

how to connect esata to a external hard drive? do i need special adapters or can the hard drive usb cable be used? thanks

and how much would the esata hardware cost?

You need
1) Your Mobo to have eSATA or go buy eSATA expansion slot.
2) Your external HDD need to support eSATA
3) You need eSATA Cable
