Going to purchase a camera, some time this year.

Buying as a replacement as my wife's failing Panasonic PnS of 5, 6 years old. I myself got a LX3 at the moment.

Ever since both of us gotten our smartphone (i4S and S3), we actually seldom use camera. Whenever we wanna take photos, we just took out using our phone, and PP if needed. I used LX3 during our Korea trip early this month, but found the photo colour kind of dull, so switched back to my i4S halfway there.

We are buying it as a backup to our phones. But if it is good and easy to use, we will use it primarily as well. Our budget is $500, or can be a little more than that.

Actually I am eyeing S110, but open to other recommendations. Preference would be something that can take better pictures in low light environment and take good baby photos will be great.

I am not photography enthusiast (I thought I were last time), just a lazy ******* who wish to make it simple and easy. Hehe, thanks.

Edited: forgot to mention that I prefer it to be like S110 size or slightly better. If S110 is the best choce for us, then I will buy early liao, dun want wait till near year then new model come out then buy.

Panasonic colours are usually more restrained compared to Canon, Fuji or Olympus. Similar to when you compare LCD to OLED.

Since you prefer more pleasing OOC JPEG, skip Panasonic cameras.

Canon S110 is pretty good choice. You can also consider Olympus XZ-10 or XZ-2 too.

Canon S110 >>> F2.0 - F5.9
XZ-10 >>> F1.8 - 2.7
XZ-2 >>> F1.8 - 2.5

Maybe you can also check out 2nd hand Fuji X10 but the their menus are a bit clunky. Their picture quality is pretty good though.

Sounds decent.

Here's our score sheet from our previous reviews and comparisons of prosumer compact cameras for your reference:-

Really depend on your budget....

If I am you and my budget is up to 1K...
I will go and get one of the Micro Four-Thirds ...

If a bit more restricted and I am use to Panasonic controls, maybe go for the LF1 which is coming out soon.
