A "Cannon" is a weapon. Do you mean Canon?

Then I would say NEITHER is best. You know why? Here's why:

1. What category of DSLR? Entry level? Mid-range? Entry level full frame? High end professional?

2. Pentax makes fantastic weather-sealed DSLRs that are far cheaper than Nikon and Canon and offer many many more features.

3. Sony offers DSLT, which is fully electronic and "the next step" after DSLR cameras.

4. Even if you do narrow down to C and N, the "best" is the one that is BEST FOR YOU. This means ergonomics, the features you need (resolution vs high ISO, etc).

5. NO DSLR CAMERA IS GOOD if... and this is the most important if... THE USER SUCKS.
Since you obviously did ZERO RESEARCH I can tell that any camera in your hands will result in the same photos.

both brands are equally good.

i went for canon since i like the crisp colour quality i see on the screen while i admit nikon color looks richer.
