Dear Camera pros,

saw this camera at qoo10 selling at $299 (after shipping) was wondering if this is a good camera for normal day to day usage. not looking for slr quality but decent will do and not too complicated.

tried reading reviews online but apparently there isnt much reviews on this camera.

So i need some recommendations from you guys here if the specs is considered okay. what attracts me is the 30x optical zoom. however i am quite skeptical about the quality of the pictures due to its price.

Please enlighten me.

Thanks!

I am not a pro but have been using superzoom since 2009, mainly for birds. Started with Canon 5SIS, then Fujifilm HS10 for a few months, then Panasonic FZ100 and now FZ200.

When you buy superzoom, it is mainly for the lightweight and long telephoto combination.

For the price you are paying, there is definitely a compromise for picture quality and other performance standards such as focussing speed etc.

If you google canon sx500is review you will get quite a few hits.

For a start, read this review:
Canon PowerShot SX500 IS Review | PhotographyBLOG

At the end of the review, you can find a review roundup from around the web.

It is not my habit to recommend any specific camera as the person who is looking for a camera knows his requirements best.

Happy hunting!

The specs of Nikon L820 looks similar to Canon SX500IS.

Anyone can recommend me which one would be a better choice? :s22:
