It's a decent DSLR, though not the most features-for-money.

But since you seem like a total newbie, I suggest you try all the DSLR brands and pick the one that feels best in your hands, with the controls that make sense to you and the ergonomics you like.

hey guys im also a beginner looking to get my first DSLR. I was rooted to get the 650D till I saw Sony A65 just now, it's really good. Maybe TS can check it out too.

May I ask the more experienced out there, how is Canon 650D compared to Sony A65?

Review? Read the online reviews. Otherwise, Canon fans will tell you buy Canon, Nikon fans will tell you buy Nikon, etc.

Me? I went from Canon to Nikon and now on Sony.

Well, I'm a newbie too and I just purchased an EOS 650D a month ago. I have nothing but praises for the item as well. Though it's a little pricey, I'd definitely recommend it for any beginner like myself who wish to step into the world of photography.

Yup, though realistically any entry-level DSLR will do for beginners.

Canon 650D is a good choice

Friends,

I just bought 650D (moved up from 500D) from PC show and since the 700D is now out, price of 650 is very attractive with lot of free stuff thrown in.

For beginners, note that while all brands have good cameras at entry levels...later on switching between brands is difficult as you build up your gear - lenses, flash guns etc. Personally I like Canon but also have friends who love Nikon. Have not met any loyal fans of other brands yet.
