IXUS - black screen when shooting mode (pic/video)
have a Canon IXUS 120 ... darn thing black screen when in shooting mode (pic or video)
when problem first occured, workaround was to snap one shot first (output also black) and then camera would return to normal until the next time the camera is turned off ...
but now ... permanently black screen all the time
tried almost everything (short of opening up to take a look) ... nothing works
am guessing it's CCD Imager issue (symptoms similar to what i googled, and if indeed so ... Canon might repair FOC even if warranty over)
so took it down to Canon ...
over the counter, was told it's lens problem and there will be repair $$ ... sianz
(not an expert, but how can i be sure what CSO said is true ... i raised the possibility of CCD Imager issues but he claims it's not ... his word against mine surely i lose lah lol)
so now, thinking of opening up to fiddle with it (dun intend to send for repairs)
so posting here first to see if anyone else has similar issues, and how it was resolved (with or without Canon's help)
additional notes :
1) DISP button is not set to OFF
2) have RESET the camera via MENU
3) can review pictures / videos taken when camera was working
TIA ... thanks for reading
EDITED : abovementioned workaround method hadn't been working lately, so i changed the program mode (from indoor to outdoor ... snapped a black screen and camera returned to normal mode again ... until the next time power is switched off
) sigh ....
