Hi All,

A noob here. Just recently heard about this Canon Privilege Purchase Program.

Was wondering, does the this offer allows you to make payment via installments? If they do, would it be for 12 or 24 months?

Have been looking forward to purchase the Canon Eos 550D with these program though not sure if this is available.

Hope those who have experience with this program can help to shed some light on this!

Many Thanks!

can anyone share the link on this promo??
thanks...

This is a Privilege Purchase Program.

which means you need to be an "existing Canon customer" to enjoy the Privilege Purchase.

So, there are no links, no phone numbers to call regardin this.

Basically, you jus need to take your "faulty" camera down to CSC, and send in for repair. When the CS quote the price or may not (it really depends on the life of the Camera), if EOL CS may jus provide you with this option of purchasing another model of Camera at a highly discounted price (which is this Privilege Purchase program) at 20.5% OFF the price in the Canon website. (below Promotion page)

http://www.canon.com.sg/section/promotion/consumer.jsp

& DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT call Customer Service and ask about this. Most probably you will not get your answer, and like some users here, came back to post that they called, and Canon told them that they need to bring their faulty equipment down to CSC, or they called, and Canon told them that there's no such thing as trade-in etc.

If you believe us, just bring your camera down, and you get to purchase the camera that you want at a good price!

oh.. and b.t.w. I already did this 3 times liao, once myself, twice for my colleagues. all were successful, and they are happy owners of their new Canon cameras.

& 1 more thing to add.

You need waiting time for the arrival of your new toy.

Personally, I waited for about a month. My 2 colleagues were luckier, they only waited for about 2 working days.

does it have to be faulty?.. old working camera can or not?..

Look. This "faulty" or "not faulty" thing has also been debated before..

Let me ask you 1 simple question.

Why do you need to go to Canon Service Centre if your equipment is not faulty?

The fundamental basis behind this program long long time ago (I know about this program since I bought IXUS V3), is for those Customer who have a failed equipment an alternative; to repairing their equipment.

*Note: this is not a Trade-In program.

So in short, yes the equipment are suppose to be faulty.

However, there are various degree of faulty equipment, as well as reasons for it being faulty. All these depends on your creativity and whether the CS buys your "faulty" idea.

You can always smash your old IXUS on the floor outside the CSC if you think that you can't came out with a good reason. That should render the Camera "faulty" enough. ;)

i don't know but the female cso did not even ask me what is wrong with my camera... all she did was collect the old one and ask which one and then state the price to me.

you are lucky..

all 3 times I went.. all asked..

Mine was easy, cause it is really faulty, LCD total no display of pic from the lens liao. 1 colleague was an old SLR film camera, that we claim it is intermittent in power source, that the CS say can try to repair, as already EOL, and we specifically ask whether can have Privilege Purchase. the other colleague also need to tell CS what was wrong with her old cam.

And thanks to everyone on this. Clear a lot on my mind.

Will listen to the bros advice here and just bring my old printer down to Canon centre tomorrow for the trade in program.

Hopefully will not encounter much problem like so of the brothers who have share here.
