Since some of us here been through that circuit breaker and WFH period where you don't drive everyday, just want to find out how many of you installed Car Dashcam that is connected to a separate battery pack (like BlackVue's Power Magic Ultra Battery) that's running 24/7 continuously non-stop recording.

Just wondering, for the time duration that you did not drive, how long was it before the backup battery died completely? 2 days? 3 days? 1 week?

Not worried about the video file size overwriting the SD card cos it overruns the capacity. I am doing a small mod project on my car so wondering about those off-the-shelf, dashcam backup battery that's selling on the market.

Easier to get the answer from the website itself?

https://www.blackvue.com.sg/cellink-b-battery.html

Mine died in 24hr, using 2ch dashcam. Consistent with the website claim

U can stack additional batteries if u want to increase the recording time.

Hmm... Thanks! I am hoping to keep my dashcam (front and back - both different brands), running 24/7 for at least 1 week without draining the battery though.

I have that one and it's about right, around 24hrs from full charge. Sometimes it runs dead I drive for under 20mins so only half charge only lasts about 12 hours.

Note that the additional battery is a fire hazard in the car, especially if the cabin temperature is high when parked under the sun.

Enough is enough...but some ppl don’t like surprises mah...
Surprises when urgent yet cannot start car because the dash cam suck the juice out of everything...

True but tapping off your car battery makes ur battery spoil faster. After 1 year or so, u start the car sound a bit funny have to immediately go battery shop changed le. I ignored the signs and was stuck in an ulu place for 1 hr becos of battery died.

My new ride i make sure to install external battery instead

Celllink neo can stack external battery pack if u want to extend power. Blackvue recently came out with LTE version, so can take advantage of the cloud feature

My car batt lasted 3yrs, fyi my car batt is q85, those startstop battery n it cost only $150

External batt 300-400.
Stock plus 2times+ of battery change. This amt sufficient for me to almost last till the 10yrs coe

Not sure if it has to do with our usage pattern. My car is usually parked and not moved during weekend. Weekdays driving to and back for work and car is not moved during the entire day. so a lot of time for the dashcam to suck the battery dry (until the powersaver kicks in)

Now I got the external battery, so will monitor and see if it's better
