Car rent in phuket

Hi all, i am going phuket next week. Any advise whether to rent a car as I still deciding to rent or take grabcar.

What u be doing there? If majority of the time gg island and beaches then rent car for what.

And how many pax? Got budget constraint?
A bike might be good enough though.

2 pax and only one day going to the island. Search around about $35 per day for car rental. For bike rental, what do they need from me? Licence, passport and deposit?

Grab is only slightly cheaper than taking taxis over there.Also, the way people drive over there i will rather rent a car

grab car is super expensive over there, the minimum amount, for short distance such as 5min to 10min, the price is 260b onwards ...

unlike bangkok, phuket area ...
tuk tuk and grab are expensive there ...

last time i rent bike at krabi, they need passport only i think.

other place i not sure. if rent car $35 then very cheap ma.

Currently now I am at Phuket. Grabcar from airport to my hotel cost almost a day car rental. Decided to rent car instead. 1200 THB for a 7 nth old honda jazz.

I was there from monday morning to friday morning.

Had a price shock of grabcar price, which is almost same price as a day car rental.
Ask around the car rental shop at the airport and manage to find a reasonable price rental for a Honda Jazz.

Waited 5 min for the car to arrive and have to go to the office for registration, photocopying of passport and licence, paying the rental upfront. Most important is no deposit.

Is a less than a year old Honda Jazz, although a few scratches by the previous person who rent the car.

Drove 410km in 4 days and I only spend $26 sgd on petrol. My first time driving out of Singapore, have to adapt to the road condition and driving culture. Other than that it is enjoyable.

no brainer to rent actually. Taxi to and fro airport already about 2 days worth of rent. A few years back, I rented from Hertz with a good price (iirc 1200) for a Civic. But low season I think (Aug)

Patong quite easy to navigate, after a few times easy. Parking is always along road next to beach. Just park and go. When you return, someone will walk over to you and collect parking fees.

I also drove around whole island.
