Hi, has anyone done servicing with Shell before?

Did a normal servicing with 36 point check last month but battery died on me yesterday.

Now I wonder if they really did the job ie change oil n checks.

Do they give you a report after the servicing? Battery health check usually comes with a report, printed out from the test machine.

36 point checks includes battery check?

Battery died? How old was it, and how's the battery health based on the battery check slip (if it was given)?

Oil change wouldn't affect the battery.

Which branch did you go? Shell autoserv is outsourced to 3rd party ws so service may vary across shell outlets.

For my svc at Bukit panjang outlet a few weeks ago, they did check and alerted me to low battery level although I declined ordering a replacement since batt was still under AD warranty. Cheers

36 points check is eye ball only. Never trust these.
For the battery, if they use equipment to check, very high chance is your battery will die if already weak. As these device discharge you battery at high current at short time to measure battery internal resistance. Always avoid doing this kind of check frequently as it shorten your battery live span.

Just did another servicing at shell autoserv at another outlet cos felt like something going on with the wheels.

40k servicing n recommended me to change all wheels as cannot find anything wrong (but still advise me to change?)

Replaced spark plug, auto transmission oil, aircon filter n 5W40 oil at $435.

Felt a bit steep. Not sure if this is normal?

Replaced spark plug - Non-iridium/platinum are around $40.

auto transmission oil - Common one is around $100 depending on how many litres.

aircon filter - Typically around $25

n 5W40 oil - Common one is around $80 depending on how many litres.

Total is about $245 or at most $300 at those older car workshops.

For my Vios I can do the entire package around $150 but that includes buying of spark plugs and air-con filter online and installing them myself. I also buy the transmission oil myself online but engine oil together with oil change labour is cheaper as the workshops buy in bulk. I cannot change the transmission oil and engine oil myself as it is a big hassle and quite messy.

The workshops have rental, workers and GST to pay and equipment to depreciate so it will definitely be more expensive than partial DIY and using workshops for selected jobs.

I buy all the parts and diy. From stockist. No sure what ride you driving.

Messy job are the oil changing. You can buy all the parts and try dIY or pay for labour at workshop.
One workshop in kakit bukit offers free labour oil change but only on Sundays.
You can call them to ask.
