Hi all, i am looking to replace my rig, not sure when SLS will be opening.

Been looking at carousell and saw a few sellers who can customise ti your requirement.

Wonder anyone got experience with them? Any issue with warranty or after sales support?

Just need to clarify that the parts are all sourced locally which they should be. From there you will need to RMA directly.

i think i stopped building PC for my friends or acquaintances at least 10yrs.

since whatever dreamcore/aftershock came out.. how do freelancers earn?

$20 or $50 per pc? worth it meh?

Hi TS, I believe some of these sellers are also from SLS themselves (advertise on Carousell as an alternative), most of the PC builders in SLS also have their own Facebook pages so you can just either contact them either way.

Some would even offer to RMA the defective parts/products on your behalf, you just send back your PC to them if got any issues (just like mine), then they will rectify the problems and replace the parts as necessary. Just check with them clearly how it will be done.

Yes there really isn't much money in it. I will do it as a hobby and only when I can spare the time so not willing to put up an add to do it!

Agree. But i believe the biz model shd be similar to shop. They earn from parts and service. They probably can get bulk discount or have tie up with shops to get distro price. Then a small fees for building the PC.

$50/ PC if they sell 2 or 3 sets its $150 profit per day. As a side job, seems ok.

I am asking cos I have not touch DIy PC for many years. Not sure if these carousellers are genuine with the parts and all.

Some on carousell are SI and they also get parts from DISTY like corbell and convergent, also there are those premium service partner of carousell

Need invoice also no issue for them some even assist with the rma as they have delivery from Disty and can be picked up from them

just have to make sure they can provide you invoice (some are registered businesses) and parts from local distro

Actually it's more fun to build yourself. You get to learn how everything is hook up and understand how the PC starts from boot from BIOS to loading your Windows. Next time, you don't even need anyone to help your troubleshoot hardware problem.

Specs very hard to fake I Guess. But I see generally mostly sell budget ram with Budget cases and Budget psus. Sadly to say these parts sell though cause they are generally a big chunk cheaper than their branded counterparts. Though whether they are as reliable. Only time can tell. I myself have built pcs with these Budget parts and they are actually holding up quite well. 1-1.5 years without issues

Warranty depends on where you get your parts. Locally or overseas.

As for after sales service. It depends on the builder. Personally as a builder. If I build a pc for someone. I feel inclined to help them process the rma. But I will not provide a Temporary replacement for the affected part. But I think it’s a case by case issue.

Actually it also applies to all companies including aftershock. I haven’t heard anyone with a pc from DreamCore so I cannot share. But I have multiple friends who have sent their pc back to aftershock with recurring problems. Each time having to send back for at least 1-2 weeks. End of the day I feel is best to learn abit about Pc building yourself. So you can remove parts to self process the rma if required. Else find a builder that can help you.

If all fails you can always post your problem here and the nice people of Hwz will help you.

Yup this is correct. I remember back then in Tradepac got one of this builders (I think from the way he talked to the staff in the shop) was asking for some parts. The price they get for the parts are a lot lower than what we can get.

Go there esp TradePac must wait so long for them to bring your part or see their attitude if you are not a "regular". Rather spend a lil more and save time and taxi fair to order from home.

Be careful of warranty when ordering from overseas. It's tedious and sometimes after 1 year broke down, you can't even get it return anymore.

Maybe those Heatsink, memories and SSD can get from overseas, but those Mobo, GPU I would not do so.

Whether its worth getting from local also depends on the distro. Claim local warranty also has its costs, especially when you need to take leave work, and spend time going down. Often more than a single trip. In some cases, I'd risk not having warranty. If it breaks, get a new one. Most of the time there are no issues, and you save a decent amount.

That said, there are brands I'd buy local because of a good RMA experience at the distro (example: anything Corbell, I'd get local) and vice versa.

You will have to make the decision with eyes wide open. IF the product is not expensive then you may want to take the risk knowing that IF it goes wrong you're going to replace.

But for those more expensive premium brands, I would for sure get them locally with local warranty. As previously mentioned for me its Motherboards, PSU (I have had to RMA before so this is why I will still buy locally) & GPU's.
