Case fans: where do you plug it to?

Whats the consensus on this?

Do you plug case fans to motherboard headers, fan controller or straight to PSU?
There was talk that mobo doesn't provide enough power or fans stress the mobo, but should be outdated now?

For me I have them plugged to a fan controller that came with my case.
Thinking if plugging to mobo would bring any difference.

I also have a basic fans controller but choose to plug all my fans to motherboard for more precise control and management of fans by bios or software.

yeap, even using fan hub also need to see how much power it can provide per pin. not sure what give ppl the idea can just plug anyhow

Check your board if you're daisy chaining fans to 1 motherboard header. As far as I know, most boards support 1A max on most headers. So if your fan is 0.3a for example,you can only daisy chain 3 fans so you don't exceed the 1A limit on the motherboard header.

1. Check your board mother board header max Amp.

2. Check your fan specs on what is the max Amp for it.

From there easier to know if can support. If you're just connecting 1 or 2 fans you should not be worried.

Plugged to PSU via Molex cables. Has been that way since Ah Lim assembled for me. Another system integrator also did that for my build.

This remind me of olden days when there is not enough fan header on motherboard and more fans are needed, just plug to psu.

Yes, full speed I guess. For me, I think the only fan speed I need to control is CPU heatsink cooler fan.
