Cat 6 vs Cat 7

i bought daiso cat 6 cable. running full 1gbps

For a 200mbps plan, it really doesn't matter which cable as others have chimed in.

However, if you're talking about laying cables in your new home/renovation within the walls, then yes, you should get Cat 6 at the very least. Cat 7 is for further future proofing and if the difference in cost isn't too much. Not worth the trouble to change them in the future, hence it's better to get cables that are graded better. An exception to this again is if you are running easily accessible trunking, then it doesn't matter what cable you get as you can easily replace it.

Just to confirm cat5 max speed is 100Mbps not 1000Mbps

Cat 5 and 5e cable design are identical. The only difference was additional electrical tests related to crosstalk were added to the 5e spec.

The majority of Cat 5 cables meet the 5e specs, but were never originally tested with the (then) newer requirements.

Even if you found a case where the Cat5 cable did not meet the cross specification of 5e ... it would only matter with long cable runs. Runs of 10-20m typical in a flat would have no issues with gigabit speeds.

I'd avoid spending any extra on Cat7. As already mentioned in the thread, Cat 7 is not an TIA/EIA specification but an ISO one.

Cat 6 is 10GbE capable. Cat6a is only needed with long cable runs AND when many cables are bundled together in the same trunking.

Cat 8.1/8.2 are required for 40GbE so there is no purpose of the Cat7 spec.
