Hi all, I will be spending $5000 but the shop does not have cc instalment. They recommended me to call UOB and ask them for it. Can it be done?

As in ask UOB to let you split into instalments? I've heard of people doing that last time, but not recently.

Also, I've gotten letters from UOB asking if I want to split "big ticket items" (I say big ticket because $500 they also ask me if I want to split) into instalments with a minimal admin fee (which I think is stupid) before so not sure if they still have such an option of interest free if they can easily charge you an admin fee.

i buy my rolex at hour glass, i use 24 month installment on my uob card.

all credit cards allow you to pay installments. they will just charge you interest on the outstanding balance.

i have just called up. you need to call up UOB after the transaction to split into 6 or 12 months instalment. 3% and 5% interest respectively. No reward points for the transaction. sigh..

If you are using the One Card, your credit card instalment is eligible for the quarterly rebate calculation

I know 0% installment plan monthly installment amount contribute to the monthly tiered value, not sure about installment plan that charge admin fee to break into installment.

I utilized it on a big bill payment via AXS, which already doesn't qualify for any benefits :p

Yes. Guess must inform all my friends on this. Instalment = no benefits.

You should explain to your friends hor, it's forced instalment that doesn't give benefits. If it's the merchant offered one at 0% interest for 6months, 12months or 24months then got benefits. :s13:

To be clearer, I believe for the 0% IPP in general, rebate/points are awarded for the initial lump sum in the month that the transaction is posted, there is no rebate/points for subsequent installments. This is with exception of UOB one card where the installment amounts are the ones that clock towards the monthly tier spending for the quarterly rebate.

Separately, rebate/points awarded will be reverted when opting for the DBS promotion 0% processing fee 0% interest to split credit card bill (up to 5 transactions, min $500) into 12 monthly installments.
