Certification advice.

Hi all, I would like to ask for advise on what certification would best suit me at my current career. Thinking of pmp but i am afraid that i am too inexperienced for it. Been working for 3.5 yrs. I have been a SharePoint consultant cum developer for 3 years in vendor environment. Just changed over to a system analyst for end user. I am going to tk the itil exam for a start.

My career objective is to be in a role of management. Hoping to be involved in resources management and project planning. Unfortunately, my current job as system analyst is more like the one man doing everything. No vendor managing or project managing. Reason being they just started using sharepoint. Still slowly growing. I couldn't change my job as i've been job hopping in vendor environment. I wanna stay in this company for 2.5 to 3yrs b4 moving on if no growth.

For management, you need some technical experience of the team that you're managing and of course, leadership experience (team lead, supervisor, etc). You don't need any certificates for this.

Project planning you can't escape PMP. But you can try PRINCE2; it helps one understand how to run a project better.

Project planning need pmp and it needs about 3 years of experience. I have experience in Requirements gathering and planning man days cr, sr and other minor portion of sdlc (performance testing, server setup and installation). I also front the users during UAT. Does all that count as the project experience Requirements?

Definition of project; any endeavor undertaken that has a start and an end.
