Thinking of signing up for CFA level 1 June 2019 for personal interest, not sure if I will go on to do level 2 and 3.

Current job has more or less no relevance to CFA/financial industry, also dont think CFA level 1 can be used for a career switch either.

Not sure if I should still proceed? Early bird ends 10 oct.

Would appreciate all/any advice, has any1 taken purely for self interest before?

Or do you think it would be a waste in my case? E.g. I could just self study old textbooks; although the test itself would be a good benchmark to see if I truly understand

Would hardcopies of the official CFA textbooks suffice?
Are the Schweser books really necessary? Somewhat on the expensive side

Would be self funded, nil company sponsorship

Thank you! :)

schweser books give a more summarised version compared to the original. usually exam halls u will see people holding on to schweser cheat sheet.

do u have background in finance and econs and hows ur basic math / stats. it's very heavy the content it covers it's almost like an entire basic bach degree.

but if ure really keen and motivated u can make it for the june exam. if ure not sure, just get the books and read first then decide. no need throw money in first.

if u just want to work in the banking sector, u dun need the cfa. only certain jobs will really fully utilise the cfa which are also rather competitive fancy roles.
