Hey, I've got a Seagate Backup Plus 1TB purchased yesterday. I opened the box which was sealed. Went to read some review online as i couldn't register my Warranty and found that seagate external HDD doesn't seem to last and suck.

Is it possible to get and exchange for similar price HDD of other brand or a refund?

Bro, from experience, Challenger has a very bad exchange policy.
I once bought a USB modem from them, took it home and left it aside for 3 weeks since I was going overseas. When I came back, checked the modem again to make sure it was the correct one, I found it it was wrong, so I went back with my receipt and modem (which was unopen).
Told them I wanted to do an exchange because I bought the wrong item. They refused to give me an exchange. Told me their exchange period is 7 days from purchase date.
Maybe you can go down and try to tell them you bought it and it is unable to register the warranty. Treat it as a faulty product. Maybe they can let you switch. But very slim chance. :(

Personally, I think you should have done your homework before purchasing something, and not the other way round since its unfair to the store selling you.

My take is, if you want to change, one trick is to try and tell them you bought a wrong capacity and need to upgrade it. If you are looking at a straight exchange for something of around the same value, good chance they can reject you. And also do so within reasonable period of time.

If Im not wrong about Challenger policy is that, within 7 days of purchase, any faulty or anything go back to Challenger, they will refund you credit to be spend in the same store on the same day to buy product of same or higher value. So best recommended will be go to Funan Challenger and check with their CS there

Challenger would ask you bring with receipt to seagate services center at funan the digital mall for claim with new copy.

After that from seagate singapore would send a copy direct to your address.

Cheers

T'S, don't read too much about users comment. Every product is likely to have bad user feedback in one way or another. Just use since you already open the box.

Lol, no need to bang table, i've changed many times before, so long within 7 days no issue whether sealed or open box. Just note that if the box is destroyed, such as products in hard sealed plastic casing, they can only be exchange if product is faulty.

Lets be fair. 3 week is out of exchange policy already.

If you don't completely ravage the packaging and keep it in resellable condition, they will let u change for item of equivalent value or more (u top up) within 7 days. I don't think you will need a reason but just make one up anyway. Go the customer service centre and talk nicely. Very high chance they will let you change as long as u didnt destroy the packaging.
