I think now is a good time to buy Malaysian assets. The cheap MYR will improve exports, so Malaysia stocks will do well.

Malaysia ETF is also giving 6.4% dividend

Many Sinkies cry till no tear over their Malaysian property investments last few years with the same thought ' it was the bottom ' .
Barclay thought so too in 2014.

S$1 = RM 2.4 sliding till RM 3.15 now .

BTW , S$1 was = 1 Ringgit years ago.

And you think the government will let this happen?

High chance it is a no

Its not high chance its no chance. The gov won't let the housing market fall too much. Most of their votes comes from HBD dwellers and if they see that they lost all their hard earned money in their HDB, PAP can wave goodbye to their votes. All the gov needs to do is to gradually remove the cooling measures.

Secondly the market is not going to allow it. Land is still scarse in SG and it is the only AAA rated country in Asia. Where else do foreign investors in Asia invest in? esp the chinese?

Even if the RM doesn't appreciate, the fact that RM has fallen so much means export oriented companies profits will go up. So I don't suggest currency speculation. Invest in Malaysian companies that will benefit from this currency fall and potentially oil prices going up will give another trigger for Malaysia. In 2014, oil prices started falling so it was bad timing to get into Malaysia at that time.

forget it. malaysia had 'swallowed' singaporean's money in the past (e.g. CLOB), and had changed rules against the interest of Singaporeans invested in Malaysia (eg property tax, buying and selling rules) so there's no guarantee that they won't do that again.
