Changing from NUS to NTU

Hi! I have just completed my first year in NUS and is currently studying applied math. However, I am beginning to lose interest in this course and dislike what I'm currently studying. I have applied for NtU maritime studies and have already been offered a place. I am in a dilemma between continuing in NuS or transferring to ntu. Ultimately, I wish to enter the police workforce. Can I get some advice please? Thank you

I think maritime might be a bit more versatile than applied math. Then again, it wouldnt really matter if you wish to sign on with SPF. Either one would be fine.

You may want to check with NUS whether your course credits can transfer to NTU course? But i strongly doubt so. If that is the case, you may have to pay unsubsidised tuition fees for first year in NTU.

In the acceptance letter, it stated that ntu will pay help me pay for some of the remaining unsubsidized fee!

Compare the two in terms of full-time employment rate.

Maritime studies is at 92.5% while NUS bachelor of science is at 61.4, with honours its 75.8.

Let me clarify a bit on the high employment rate of Martitime studies.
The current maritime industry is having a labour crunch and maritime studies have small intakes compared to other majors. In fact it is a highly specialized field.

If u wan to go to SPF, jus take the degree where it is more likely for u to get a good hons.

If your ultimate goal is the SPF, it doesn't matter which course/degree you are taking as they accept all fields so long as you are fit and can pass their interview & tests.

But if you feel you are losing interest in applied math, it is best to switch to a course where you can get a better honours, like what Darkzion said. Because grades will still set you apart from the rest of the other applicants to SPF if say, the assessors are in two minds between you and another candidate.
