The reason being i am better in my languages and i have no background in IT.And the learning pace is far too fast.

Come on, you are in uni, not poly or JC. Lessons in local universities are conducted at blazing fast pace. In ur case, it is worse because u r doing a course that is not of your forte. Learn to cope, I know it is not easy, especially when u have no background in IT. Only make a change to another course after thorough and serious considerations.

Hi Allisonnn! Wow you're a first year student from SIS too? Haha so am I... or WAS. I just withdrew from SMU a couple weeks ago. Btw I think you already knew this but if you do continue with SMU for another sem and then next year switch to NTU you will be paying a bomb for course fees for 2 sems in NTU, which I believe is not worth it. That's why I quit now rather than later.

I think that if you are really not happy staying in SMU there's no point staying on for 4 years. If you think you'll be happier in another course and uni, go on and switch. As for me, I am planning to apply to SIT next year, and it is going to be a 2 year course which in my opinion, negates the time that I have lost in SMU (I will in fact graduate faster than being in SMU). So other than the unsubsidised fees for one sem in SIT, it's not a biggie.

You can also take the time from now til August to work and earn some cash to help out with your studies!

UOG Mechatronics

Maybe u want to head down to Ngee Ann and find out how the existing batch of SIT UOG undergrads are coping.

That's what I did when SIT offered me a place for TUM course.

I managed to find out about the pace of modules being taught and approx dropout rate.

Decided not to take up offer after gathering feedback from existing SIT TUM students. :D:D:D

Same academic routine lah, waste time only. Still the usual forcing knowledge down the throat kind of education. Just finish what you started and all the best.

I think the main difference between SMU and NTU is the culture. NTU even though its on a hill, has a Real campus culture. The location and atmosphere there is really different with hall activities and stuff. SMU is more like those private Uni culture. Go there lecture, tutorial, study and then after that u do your own stuff..

Hi Allisonnn,

Please change course immediately. If you cannot take year one in SIS, you are just going to die in year two. Get out of all computing courses and go take your language course elsewhere.

Hope its not too late.

its rite that she should withdraw from the course. but she must find a very gd reason for her to go ntu to take up the language, by saying that the SMU curriculum is too fast pace is not gonna help her to survive in NTU either. it is best that she knows wat she will be studying in the language course and has a strong passion and interest towards it.

Change course from SMU to NUS

Hi I am an incoming freshman of SMU LKCSB. If I apply for clean slate in october, does it mean I start from Year 1 and sem 1 the following year?

Oh also, is the tuition grant also automatically transferred to NUS? And studying for 5 years means that I will be paying the non-subsidized fee for the 5th year?

1. Have you started a semester with SMU?

2. The Tuition grant for the "non Subsidized" semester/trimester begin during the first year of education at the new school.

Formula is Total Tuition Grant - Tuition Grant Consumed = eligible Balance.

If you consume 1 semester of tuition grant, meaning the new school the first semester is non-subsidized rate thereafter then you can enjoy the grant.

If you consume 1 semester in SMU and decides to transfer to NUS, your first semester school fee at NUS is at non-subsidies rate.

Yup the following year. U cannot start halfway when academic year already started unless u want to miss out lessons.
