Cheap android phone to use for tethering

Hi all,

I am buying a android phone to insert a SIM card n tether so my other phones n iPad can hav wifi from this phone.

Any phones to recommend?

As cheap as possible
Size as small as possible, thin
Battery as big as possible.

Just get a 4G MiFi. Better battery life, pretty cheap too (Carousell have seller selling ZTE MiFi at $60 or so), size also smaller than most droids of now.

Size small for phones, battery also damn small, battery life would be impacted lo.

Last time I use my iPhone 5 (on 4G) as hotspot, battery life drop like grapes (at least 40% per hour). That's like 2.5h battery life, much shorter than 4+ hours of MiFi of similar battery size (1500mAh or so).

Usually MiFi power will last 4 to 6 hours. Unless is those with a 5200mA type. Also, make sure these 4G router is at lease 100mbps or even better, 150mbps supported.

Preferably 4G. I saw a Huawei the other day at least $350 if want to last minimum 6 hours and I think about 150Mbps.

That MiFi claims to support up to 8h. 150Mbps LTE.

300Mbps LTE-A (or higher) MiFi are just too expensive.

I actually using my very old iPhone 5 now. Battery cannot make it and the personal hotspot keep dropping. Super irritating.

I am tinking of also using the starhub happy roam n I hav asked starhub n was told can't be used on mifi. Only can use in phones. so decided to get android phone.

Recently I was in Hong Kong n the hotel gave free Huawei phone with local sim to use. I was locked on to the tethering whole day, super smooth n also battery only use 40% whole day! But I didn't see which model, maybe too exp also

If you see the "most valued prepaid card" thread, you may find the @boonkang using the prepaid SIM in the MiFi. It works. Just need to set the correct APN (shppd).

internet even with roaming.
TS best to get a MIFI instead, Huawei and etc.
Battery and small form factor easy for you to carry and hide.

If you use phone, it will not last that long especially if you intend to download stuff.
I have a Huawei 4G MIFI so far so good no complains.

not all providers/plan allows tethering of data,atleast some of the countries i went to.
MIFI is considered tethering to providers.

Which model is yours?

Starhub happy roam needs app to activate. Maybe that's why starhub said can't be used on mifi
