Cheap Chromebook for kids

Hi folks,

Looking for recommendation. My kids are in primary school and we recently decided we don't really want to share our devices with them because sometimes they mess up our settings and we need to use our devices for work.
So thought of getting them a cheap device of their own.

1) Cheap: Something cheap. Probably a Chromebook?
2) Large screen: Because we don't want them to squint into the screen.
3) If possible, convertible. Would like a proper keyboard, but thinking of option to have it as tablet for kids to explore doodling on the screen...

But probably first 2 criteria take priority...

Usage: Mainly Primary school work. Not for gaming.
Maybe watch some videos (although if its not for school, I will probably cast it on the tv), and I'm fine if they use it for doodling.

Any recommendations?

plan your budget how much you going to invest lol...
u do not need a lappy with a big screen for this.. a 14inch will be just nice.. unless we are talking more then 2 heads..
and which has good integrated mic and camera for there online homework is very important.. and next time your kids might go enrichment class where sometimes are held online thru zoom or teams...
just get a basic / refurbish 14lnch laptop will do. lolx

chromebook not meant for serious work. imagine using your handphone for day to day work. not everything can be done.

go for thinkpad t460 and above or go for ryzen 3200u-5500u laptops.

Skip Chromebooks... you need to be extra sure that your scope of use won't exceed the Chromebook limitations.

You're much better off getting 2nd hand notebooks to save on cost or buying older generations that are still in various online retail channels to save on cost.

If you can afford to stretch to 800-ish, you can get pretty good basic machines.
If you need a convertible notebook with touchscreen and all, it will usually cross the $1k mark like this for example:-

Wouldn't the Lenovo Duet 5 be good enough? Thought most basic office productivity can be done via the web versions or apps from the Playstore... it's just primary school... don't need any high powered apps that don't run in a web browser actually...
