Just can read blu-ray and DVD can already (blu-ray/DVD-ROM, no disc burning features at all). Now possible to get for under S$ 100?

I saw such drives in SLS many months ago but not sure if the shops there still have stock or not.

Cheap is one thing but if it cannot playback the blu ray than no point getting it.

Get the LG model if you can and stay away from HP.

I would recommend you to go with Sony BC-5550H-Slim Blu-ray Combo Drive. Quality of Sony product is unmatched (that's what i have experienced). You can buy it from Amazon but it would stretch your budget little more ($12 extra ;))

Hope this find you helpful.. :)

Looks not bad. But that drive is for laptops.

I've bought optical drive from eBay before and it was faulty. Returned it for a refund but lost out on shipping charge and hassle. :( But I'm glad the Hong Kong eBay seller had integrity and didn't try to avoid returning me money. :)

I'm thinking of buying one very soon.

Tradepac at SLS mentions a LG Blu-ray ROM for under $100 on their pricelist, but they haven't updated the pricelist on their website for a while. Does that LG Blu-ray ROM drive have any problems with playing back blu-rays?

by the way, what programs do you guys use to read BR discs?
This is going to be my first time playing blu-ray discs using a 3.5" desktop blu-ray drive. Maybe VLC media player can play blu-ray discs, but I really don't know.

I had LG BH10LS20 and another newer BH16NS40...both are excellent bluray writer drives.

Software: PowerDVD for Bluray/DVD Disc Playing. ImgBurn for burning... No other bloatware

Bought a LG 12x Blu-ray combo drive (CH12NS30) a few days ago. Came with software to play blu-ray movies. So far so good.

Blu-ray discs are still too expensive to justify getting a blu-ray writer. And I'm scared of the disc burning failing and SGD4 flying away.
