Is there a better option if i simply need more hdd racks to extend storage for my htpc?
Having network access to share files will be great, but i do not need raid.

wow! cheap but only equipped with USB2.0/eSata interface. more like an external hdd. Lol

I think you need a PCI-Express eSATA2 controller card inorder to see all 4 HDDs.

My Dlink 343 NAS can be quite noisy when its fan is turn on.

I am planning to put one multi-bay enclosure for my mediaplayer beside my TV, if it is noisy then it may not be good for me as it will affect the audio effect and ambience.

If you don’t have a Port Multiplier compatible eSata port on your mobo,you need to purchase a PCI-E 1X expansion card.

Thanks for the information. I am also not sure if my mobo is port multiplier compatible. I dont think i saw this in the user manual as well. hmm ...

Edit: Ok read my user manual again. It says 'Use the port to connect an external SATA device or a SATA port multiplier'

What does this means? Support or no support lolx.

I am seeing that we need a eSATA controller in order for computers to see all the four disks at the same time if we need to connect through eSATA. I wonder if

1. do I need anything like eSATA controller if I were to connect only through USB ? I am planning to use this to connect to my AC Ryan media player that has a USB port. I am not sure if the player could "see" all the four drives.

2. If my notebook computer has a eSATA port, do I still need an eSATA controller (which I do not think there is any availalble for notebook computer) ?
