went down to IMM ytd evening, and tested out the Novo 8..

pretty disappointed as it couldn't even play a simple slot machine game i d/l-ed from market..

conclusion: china tabs are still a far notch behind leading brands~
The price is also a far notch behind leading brands. That's a fair deal - pay more get better quality stuff. Given the complexity of the hardware and software of these tablets, it is really amazing that they are sold at this low a price point.

However, not all tablets are bad. With proper tweaking or firmware updates, there should be no problems with Android Market, battery life or WiFi connectivity issues. That's what I discovered on my Herotab C8. Stock ROM was horrible; nothing really works! After loading a custom ROM, it became a completely different device. So with a good ROM that allowed everything to work perfectly, and at such a low price, it instantly became a far notch above leading brands.

Hopefully the Novo can be loaded with good, custom ROMs too. :)

 How many tablets do you own?

Novo7A is my 2nd one only. I'm thinking of getting 1 7" for my wife to put in office:s22: Need a 9.7/10" one for my MIL, which still looking lol

Here's something to think about, U.Zone F1 is selling a RK2918 7" resistive 2points tablet for 399 RBM, that's like around S$80. With agent and shipping it's like S$110.

A 7" digital photo frame also need around $50 bah. This S$110 can be used to watch movies, play 2D/3D games, got wifi, surf net, can be use as photo frame. Like better value:s13:

Or the Teclast P76 A10 tablet also looks good, around S$125 with shipping.

I'm addicted:s13:

After a few days of reading the posts here, I am tempted.

At first, I was only in the market for a 9 or 10" for my boy to play around with during the school holidays. But here, everyone so "hot" about the novo 7a ... getting very tempted to get one 7" to play around as well ... mmm ....

1 x 7 inch
1 x 9 inch

it wasnt even their display set lor..i went there..having the intention to buy..so they brought out a new set for me to test..

I used to own Novo 8 and i installed the market myself....i have NO problem downloading apps and playing them on my tablet...in fact i downloaded too many apps until i ran out of space :s13:

Dont know why you can't run the game there, maybe their display set is faulty.

Imo, the only weakness of Novo 8 is the battery life.

fake market?? it looks exactly the same as original wor..and require google account log-in de leh~ :s22:
huh? :s13: maybe fake market from previous firmware:s8: It's likely software issue than hardware. Novo8 runs on Amlogic cortex A9 (performance better than GT) with Mali400 (same GS2 base GPU).

So far no problem running stuffs on Novo7A. I'm pretty sure Novo8 can run most of the stuffs, unless the app/game only runs on specific models.

Example, asphalt 6 xperia play version have problems on Novo7A, but asphalt 6 GS2 version runs smoothly on Novo7A. Reason is the gameloft optimized the game based on the hardware. :s13:

Has anyone seen this 9.7" IPS tablet selling in Singapore? It can be bought online for below USD 250, inclusive of shipping charges. But I prefer to buy it locally if the price is right.

Some pictures taken from online shops:
