Need 1920x1080p monitor (preferably 23 to 27inches)
Need casing, cpu, mobo, hdd, ram, os, dvd-rom.
PSU and GPU have been donated by kind soul.
Keyboard and mouse gonna use old one.
PSU is 550w, GPU is gtx970.
Ultimate aim is to be able to play DotA 2 in max settings in 1080p.
As for speaker, can use headphones plugged into casing right? So can save on the cost of a speaker.

8gb Kingston @ 55
Toshiba 1tb @ 60
Casing @ 60
Dell E2216H @ 215

Total : $540

GPU + PSU provided so no need.
No speaker = use headphones.
No DVD = how to install Win10 using thumbdrive, any guru's advises?

Buay sai 2nd hand. Need 1st hand.
With monitor 500 can bo??
Or budget too tight. Must spend 500 without monitor?
I3 i5 is cincai. I want to play dota2 for time being.
Might take out 970 to make another comp in future.
Swap a weak gpu for movie n light gaming.
PSU is FSP Hexa 550w

This is a better choice if he were to utilise the qoo10 $100 coupon.

Hdd nia. Boh lui for ssd.

His quote includes cpu, mobo, ram and ssd. HDD is quite cheap at $78 for WD Blue 1tb. use some coupons to bring it close to $50, which is very reasonable liao.

If not, downsize to haswell cpu & mobo and ddr3 ram and perhaps can squeeze in 1tb hdd.

In all honesty, you can get great value with second hand parts. Yes don't buy personal hygiene stuff like ear/head phones. RAM, CPU, Mobo and PSU are sturdy stuff buying 1 year old products can net you great value for the price. A good place to start would be Carousell.

Monitors well, I always believe that you get what you pay for. The easiest (and cheapest) parts to buy that will increase your user experience is

1. RAM
2. SSD
3. Monitor

Why waste 150-200 on a rubbish panel that you'll wish to upgrade in 2 years. Just spend a good 400-500 on a good monitor that will last you for 5 years. My $500 LG TV bought in 2010 has lasted me till now no dead pixels no backlight bleed albeit with crummy refresh rates 50hz and resolution 1366 x 766 or something.

I understand. I have personal reasons for not getting 2nd hand.
Used by poor peasant. So not gonna get SSD or good monitor.

Well, for 500 you can just go to SLS and get the cheapest everything. Monitors 24" can go for as low at 100-150. Don't expect like great contrast ratios or no backlight bleed etc. so yea if you really want to use a 970 like that why not.

Edit: i would recommend you just pay an extra 30 bux to the shop to get them to set up everything for you. OEM windows 7 or something
