Hi Bros,

Could i check with any of you i received a non crossed Cash cheque a few days back and well.. i lost it, however i have written my account details on the back page i was planning to bank it in today then i realized it was missing.

May i ask if anyone that picks it up would be able to get cash off the counter?

I think you should call the person who issue you the cheque to stop the translation.

Thanks i already tried that, well lets put it that its abit complicated and the issuer is unable and not willing to do a stop cheque.... in this case may i ask what is likely to happen? since its crossed i believe i can rule out that the person can get $ over the counter so if they want to bank in they will leave an electronic trace, will people do that?

Also i have already written my name acct and number on the back of the cheque so can the person whom pick it up if they really want to try cancel my account and rewrite another one?

The Payee name is Cash therefore its not directed to only me.

I tried to ask this qn to the banks but they all ask me to ask the issuer to do a stop cheque.. but he is not willing to do that thats why i resorted to forum

Wow, so complicated.

The person can just cash out the cheque, via own name or asking a passerby to give a comm or something.

Once cash out, gotta ask bank to trace etc.

Why is the issuer not willing to stop? Coz of penalty? You can take that penalty?
