I saw one thread in edmw mention cherry blossom might be earlier this year

Anyone can verify based on experience if this is true, and estimate the period

It's like the weather. Nobody can tell with 100% accuracy.

The pattern is, warmer winter means spring comes earlier means cherry tree oso blossom earlier (and vice versa).

The estimated date by Japan tourism website is 1st April, lets say the weather is warmer than usual during that period, the timing may probably be earlier than usual by 1-2 weeks?

Possible. Regardless you've to book early as it's a very popular period to travel to Japan. Accommodation at popular hotels likely to be fully booked.

Cherry blossoms will start blooming from the south and move up to the north. If there's no cherry blossoms where you are perhaps you'll need to travel to places where they are bloom.

Check out my thread. It is estimated to be warmer than normal
Meaning that sakura will be earlier

In other parts of the world like Europe or American, they are complaining winter already gone.
Spring - Summer - Autumn -> Spring again instead of Winter

Depends..Can be Early March or Mid March also possible This El Nino is deadly, last autumn wrecked my Koyo viewing in kyoto.

yeah, I'm just watching Japan TV news this morning and this week is pretty warm for winter. Highs of about 13-16 degrees, and lows of about 3-5 degrees for Tokyo.

Already planning to visit Kawazu for sakura in end Feb...now dunno whether if I should try to bring forward my Kawazu visit to earlier into my trip or not.

Instead of my winter jacket, I'm seriously considering just bringing my autumn jacket for my Feb trip...even though I'd be visiting places Kanazawa, Takayama too...
