Chiayi/Alishan - Getting around

Hi guys,

Looking for transportation arrangements from Chiayi THSR Station to my minsu (星光森林民宿) that apparently is a considerable distance from the main Alishan area, and probably a tour guide to drive us around for an entire day up Alishan.

Any recommendations or tips? Quite lost attempting to navigate the websites that are largely in chinese lol.

For a start, Chiayi TRA Station is nearer to Alishan than HSR..

Anyway, the minsu you're staying at should beable to get you a driver to bring you there and they probably have contacts of driver to bring you around..

At the main area, it's actually by abit of train and the rest is by foot..So dont really need a guide..

Driving Up Alishan

I want to see sunrise at Alishan but I don't intend to stay at Alishan. I'm thinking of getting a taxis to drive me up and reach Alishan around 6am. I don't know how much and not sure is it feasibile. Pls advise. I will spending the whole day thereafter I will take a public bus to go down.

Not feasible. Coz driver will not likely want to operate so early from Chiayi train station. Besides, it's mountain road. Not very safe to drive up or down at night.

Car to reach the place smelly smelly also need almost 2hrs..Then train + q to go zhushan also smelly smelly 45mins..In order to reach at 6am which is awhile before sunset means u gonna take the car to go up at like 0315H..Provided that there's a driver who would wana drive in the middle of the night..

Then the driver might not wanna risk his life for that few bux more.
