Pakistan is no threat to US, moreover, pakistan has a much much greater beef with India.

China likes to bet on regimes that are opposed to US and as it turns out, these are also some of the most unstable states.

Last I checked, Venezuela is still hostile against Uncle Sam. There are reports of militia groups setting up blockades, conducting checks, they want to kidnap US citizens.

Summary: 敌人的敌人是我的朋友

However do take note if something big really do happen, it is unlikely China will interfere or intervene or help.

Exception will probably be North Korea. They cannot afford to lose a buffer state.
