China as a retirement base

Its 2026, anyone else still considering China as a semi retirement base?

Having obtaining 6mths tourist visa, can literally rent a nice place stay(cheap at 2-3tier cities) for 3-6mths.
Considering Yunnan area due to milder weather
Go home during summer & repeat. My FIRE-ish plan

Does China have a visa where you can go back for 3-6 months every year and allow you to rent?

I am not retirement age yet but have plans to choose a city to chill out in case I want to take a short career break haha. Chengdu/Kunming would be my choice. Daily life would be gym, running, and not to mention i can reach Western sichuan and Yunnan Shangri-La within hours if I want to escape into the nature. It is also close enough to Xinjiang for winter sports

Ohh, not getting a place under your name in Thailand wor?

no. i still have a 3rm flat in sg.... so that is under my name, whats in Thailand, will be under my gf (originally already hers)
