China Brand Video Card

Please recommend one to three brands of China manufactured video card. I will do a research as i plan to use for my old computer. thanks

By the way if you have a old video card, how do you know the new card will fit onto your desktop. What do you need to look at? ...no idea...

- All VGA cards are "made in China" regardless Taiwanese brands (Asus, MSI, Palit etc) or HK brands (ZOTAC, Galax)
- China local brand top market share is Colorful.
- BTW, those Taiwan/HK brands are also selling very well in China, made up top 5 after Colouful.
- if your intentions to buy China brands is because you think they will be much cheaper, think again. they are NOT cheaper than your Asus/Palit/ZOTAC.
- because majority of the cost are by NVIDIA/AMD (GPU and memory).
- So if you see a china brand with very low price, eg. more 30-50% less, be careful, they are confirm fake, either refurbished used or - re-marked (use a old previous generation architecture card eg. NV 600/700 series and mark as 10-series/16-series)
- one obvious sign to notice is the box; genuine/official brands from NV/AMD partners- their box must comply with the branding guidelines of NV/AMD; for example, the green banner on the lower right side of the box for NV, all the AIB partners must comply.

So, if your priorities is cost/price, suggest you buy locally and get/hunt for a 2nd hand card with 1-2 years warranty left.

most modern GPUs do not even saturate PCIe2 x16

He is talking about data bandwidth, not physical size.

If you're talking about physical size, a PCIE 16x device will fit into any PCIE 16x slot.

While it is true that almost all/ if not all GPUs are manufactured in China, the real danger is the unknown China brands. While you save more money, you also run the risk of no warranty + poor build (assuming they are selling the real thing).

Also there are some too good to be true gpu selling at super low prices like for example a gtx 1070 selling at only $30 or $50 from china seller. Most of these are fakes they are in actual fact a lower end cards like for example a gtx 550 flash with a gtx 1070 bios so it will look like a gtx 1070 card from device manager.

What they do is they flash the bios to a gtx 1070 bios so you will see it in device manager as a gtx 1070 card. And when doing benchmark it will perform like a gtx 550. If you remove the heatsink and check the actual chip on the card is actually a gtx 550. So buyers beware. Some of them selling it as new or 2nd hand. Some of it are unknown china brand.

So with the upgrade of my video card and keeping my old monitor, am I right to say the difference i will see is in the improvement of the FPS and what else ?
