on the book series, i think definitely will be more epic than live action version, there is no doubt. i only read the chinese version. i will say if u can read chinese go for it, english version i'm not so sure.

Recommend to read as well. Its one of the greatest sci-fi.

Too bad the anime version ruined the characters. The animation company after 灵笼 chose to focus on action instead of following the novel closely.

灵笼 is another sci-fi worth watching. 3D anime onli.

I watched ep1 too, agreed pace is slow, hopefully subsequent eps can speed up a bit.

It applies everywhere, we humans are living in a competitive society with limited resources.

we can see 黑暗森林 principle on earth it makes sense alien civilizations will be the same. this is why its not a great idea to broadcast ourselves to the universe. its like a advertisement for a buffet.

Look on the bright side. We make ourselves so loud that it might looks like bait instead so no one will risk attacking us lest it gives themselves away.

Personally, I don't think we have reach the level where other alien species will take any active interests in us. We are like the ants along some remote streetside. Not worth paying any attention unless it's a rare entomologist who happened to pass by and takes a passing interests.

it is true if we consider natural resources, aliens are not going to have interest on invading earth for it however even with our limited exploration capability we can see life itself is a rarity in our solar system and its likely life isnt tat common.

think of it this way, alien civilizations interest in earth will likely be on the abundance of lifeforms which will be interesting for them to study/examine/keep or as 三体 case, elimination of a potential rival of a fellow intelligent species...... no matter how low beneath them to prevent competition hence the 黑暗森林 principle.

We may see ourselves as intelligent but to them might as well be dumb as rocks. Below a certain threshold is simply not worth the effort. You don't see people going out in the wild killing ants coz they are (potentially somehow in the future deemed) an existential threat to them.

Maybe we'll deserve some attention when we approach Type 3 civilization on the Kardashev scale.
