I thought the Pipo did not have a full metal back?

Looks like mostly metal back, but I will let Snoopydog to confirm.

Cannot make voice calls only for 3G data..unless if you know of some hack to make this into a mobile phone, pls let me know :)

in theory, to make calls must have some circuit build-in, so i suppose no.

to add on my question, it means the tablet can put in our mobile bb sim card n surf net? no need dongle?

I read Pipo company's profile on their site...impressed by their cred. So far reviews have been positive about their quality.

Lucky for me :s12:...wifi is ok for my set...only gripe so far is the screen panel not centred :(

Yes..its a bit more expensive than the rest, IMO, I think its worth the premium for their quality...I was thinking then less chance of receiving a faulty set :s13:, besides I wanted the inbuilt 3G and GPS as well...useful and handy to bring for overseas travel.
Lovely !

What about
- surfing the web ( laggy or fast ) ?
- can the display be seen outside ?
-stable so far ?

Just tested the inbuilt SIM card slot with a Starhub mobile bb sim card...and it works!
You dont need the dongle unless your tablet doesnt have the inbuilt slot.
If you are on the move and needs to stay connected..its not very elegant having the OTG cable with dongle hanging from the tablet :s13:

Yes, I saw a similar photo. I thought only the centre piece was metal n the ends plastic.

The black one looks like metal with the brushed metal appearance.
Heres a pic of my tablet...it doesnt have the brush metal look like the black one in the pic... It feels and looks like plastic to me...take a look

Wow..thats fast :s12:..good to know that my review helped.
Are you ordering from the same reseller and using Hirakawa?
Hirakawa will assist to get the reseller to issue an RMA to you if your tablet DOA. As for warranty, I think we have to incur shipping costs..you need to check with him on that.
I am hoping it wont give me problems...I put my trust in Pipo QC ha ha....
The Pipo box containing the tablet is very sturdy and stiff, and it is already well protected inside by a layer of foam sponge...so it shouldnt be damaged so easily.
Black is a good colour if you are concerned about the panel alignment...any gap would not be visible, anyway not a big issue, just a minor aesthetic bug.
Yes..the 3G SIM slot works!

So far so good, its been stable, and responsive, surfing is fast, though dependent on your internet connection...I will need to test further over the weekend and you can check back my review for the updates.
Thanks.

Yup, i was just waiting for someone to give a hands-on review before pulling the trigger. Was looking long and hard for a mid-sized tablet (8" to 9") with FHD resol and surprisingly only the MIC tablets qualified! Even the Tab 3 8.0, Note 8 n iPad Mini are all stuck with low resol. The only branded one i know of is LG which is supposed to launch a FHD 8+ inch tablet very soon.

I decided to take advantage of all your hard work n bgt from the same seller thru hirakawa - thks! Decided on the wifi model because i prefer to have 3G on my smaller 7" tablets.

Didnt actually need to get the hdmi cable, msd reader etc but decided to go for the package deal #1 anyway because i figured that if i just bgt the tablet alone, it may not have the extra protection of a box within a box.

Yuan also seems to have strengthened a bit - its now 1S$ to CNY4.75.

And now the waiting starts! In the meantime, i look forward to reading more of your impressions! :)

Ha ha...I was also waiting for someone to review Pipo, but most seem to gravitate towards the other popular brands like Cube, Vido, Onda, etc.
I so wanted the HDMI cable...anyway it doesnt cost much more for the set 1. Oh btw..you can request for the colour of the leather case...only 2 colours, black or brown.
Great...now I look forward to your review when you get yours :s12:

Amongst the 8"-9" FHD tablets, i only know of 3 - Pipo M7 Pro, iFive X2 and Cube (U39GT i think). X2 seems to have a lot of support maybe bec it has been out longer but there were some complaints about poor wifi and not very smooth video playback. I also dont like white. Cube looks interesting but has the smallest battery.

Since my main usage for this tablet will be watching video, i decided that M7 would suit my needs best based on the reviews so far.

Btw, thks for the heads-up on the colour of the case. Hope its not too late to inform hirakawa.

Where got MIC tablet display sets to test and play?

Sim Lim Square? Which shop/stall is recommended?

Is 10.1" tablets heavy to hold for watching movie for 90 to 120 mins from personal experience?

Is 7" one too small for web browsing?

Just try any of the shops in SL that sells MIC tablets. They all have display units that u can try.

For watching videos, i def find 10.1" too heavy and cumbersome esp if u r lying on the bed. Also, most 10.1" tablets like the Gal Note 10 or Gal Tab 10 are still 1280x800 i.e. the same resol hat u can find on a decent 7" or 8" tablet.

7" would be good enough for 720p videos but i think they dont do 1080p videos justice at that small size.

My ideal video-watching tablet would be bet 8" - 9" and have FHD resol ie 1920x1080 at least on an IPS screen. Which is why i just ordered the Pipo M7 Pro :)

So it depends also on the quality of your movie files.

As for web browsing, yes, i think 7" is too small for comfortable browsing.
