Chiobu is sad and tried to take my mind off by going for a 2h night drive around places :frown: :frown: :frown:

And why coe must be so expensive. If possible chiobu wanna own a car forever and don't need squeeze PT with people, I realised I'm still quite unfamiliar since I don't get to practice often. Luckily is at night. But even so why so late still so many cars at PIE just now????

And there are also a lot road hazard motor cyclist and drivers. 🫠

Got idiots that on parking light throughout, signal wrong, stop half way in the middle make me almost bang, luckily I reacted fast and have a huge gap, idiot sit at the side of the narrow single road, bikers that speed and anyhow cut and not care about everyone's safety, humsup people park at some ulu places to have sex (I think). What an adventure.

Quite surprised this hour still got so much nonsense. I think day time even more stressful.

Need the elite kor kor here be chiobu driving instructor and recommend a good car easy to drive one :frown:

Here ish the GPGT, made it alive back home...but actually ggwp also good :frown:

Side note, is it chiobu noob? But I really don't like foot-operated parking brake compared to hand brake.

Chiobu is short need to push to damn front and can't see as wide angle as compared to sitting further. Is it a female driver problem or just me? If not my legs can't even reach all the pedals.

Looks like a Toyota Sienta.
If not sporting the livery of one of the car sharing companies, a freaking number of them are painted an obiang Lime Green...

At one point, one of the more affordable top choice for PHV drivers. Maybe the color too obiang, have to give discount for people to buy.

Yes, leisurely night drives can be very relaxing. And yes, totally different set of creatures come out at night :)

People who say Singapore has no night life don't drive.

The car that turned on parking light should be a PHV driver. Forgot to turn off after passengers boarded/alighted. Suddenly stop could be due to onboard passenger telling the driver last minute where to stop or driver received new booking. Stopped to change lane.

You are right to keep safe distance. Look out for vehicles with the PHV tags. Although they get lots of driving experience from driving throughout the day, they spend half the time looking at multiple phones for bookings. So some have issues where they can't keep within their lanes as they check map/routes, accept bookings, abrupt lane change with little or zero signalling.

Bikers lane splitting and zig-zagging amidst other traffic happens even in the day. However at night, some will be more daring and zhua throttle to speed.

I also prefer handbrake, feels more right. Plus I used to drive manual, so at traffic stops, I will put neutral gear and pull handbrake loudly, so that I can rest my left foot and at the same time, other drivers can hear that I pulled handbrake. Kept the habit after driving auto.

And for the last question, it's a short person issue. However, women tend to be shorter than men on average, so :ROFLMAO:

Wuyabo? All no need work or no work to do liao :frown:
Some indeed no need to work.

Others are in industries that not only work during normal office hours. Eg insurance, property, towkay, ASK etc.

Then an entire hospitality industry revolves around serving these people.

Staff finish shift work at say 2am, then after work, go get supper with colleagues and chiong other 24hr entertainment venues.

Is it? I didn't know about this. From your thorough reply, you really season driver.

Yesss.

Wah good tip, I didn't think of it. Thanks!

Oh the parking light on i think is phv. But the stop in the middle that one rly is sibei annoying. They literally stop middle of the road probably thinking no car and dc, and open both car doors coming out I think caz wanna change driver. But hello at least do it at the side. I was driving slowly. If I fast I might not be able stop in time and either bang the right side driver coming out or the opened car door.

Bikers lane splitting and zig-zagging amidst other traffic happens even in the day. However at night, some will be more daring and zhua throttle to speed.
OMG yes I met 2 during my drive so damn fast out of nowhere I can't imagine if I were to speed up and I can't see from rear mirror I'll definitely bang them.

I also prefer handbrake, feels more right.
Hahaha same my only training is from sch and I'm so used to it. Plus hand brake I can brake immediately if need to. The leg one is quite deep inside I have to stretch my legs which definitely crisis I can't react fast enough. But I can't move my chair any more nearer to the front liao.

Plus I used to drive manual, so at traffic stops, I will put neutral gear and pull handbrake loudly, so that I can rest my left foot and at the same time, other drivers can hear that I pulled handbrake. Kept the habit after driving auto.

What to note for 2nd hand cars

@Orphan wah thank you for sharing! What's your take?
Welcome.

As I am not in the workshop field, I can only give my views and opinions as a normal consumer.

In general, I avoid 2nd hand cars personally. However, I also can understand why people will say "of course got money to throw into 1st hand car who dun wan? It's like people say they cannot afford bread leow, you reply let them eat cake..."

So...less than 10k for a 10 month 5 series is an affordable experience for one to see if owning a car is right for oneself. Basically if something goes wrong, it's a "throwaway" car with less than 1 year left.

It's a older 2007 conti with mid ranged CAT B engine Cc.

2,500 Cc Inline 6 engine, so power and acceleration is there. Of course, with great power comes great petrol bills. Expect FC of 10km per litre.

Conti also means if repairs are needed, it will be definitely more expensive.

2007 car with 3 owners, to me is quite acceptable. Just note that 2nd hand cars sometimes are like a gamble. Plus must see the 2nd hand car dealer reputable or not.

There must have been a reason for the previous owners to sell. Hopefully they did not sell due to having too many problems with the car.

3rd owner sell with 10 months left is acceptable. Since CoE is running out, might as well change car and sell/trade in the old car before scrap.

But if he sold it after owning for 1 year, also a problem.

As to whether the previous owners took care of it:

From the pics, car is mostly stock with light mods. Specifically, the steering wheel was definitely changed with an after market one.

Light mods can be good, means owner is likely a car enthusiast. Car enthusiasts tend to take better care of their cars.

Slight paint chip on front right bumper. Looks like clear coat worn off a bit, but then, it's a 19 year old car, so last owner probably dun want to waste money.

Headlights slightly weathered, though looks to be less than 19 years of weathering. My guess is previous owner either polished at workshop before or parked at sheltered carpark/garage.

Can't see any road rash on the rims. Tyres seems to be relatively new, esp rear tyres can see that it still has deep threads. The pic angles don't show the front tyre threads, but presumably, previous owner would have changed all 4 tyres.

Don't trust the mileage indicator, esp if mileage is low. The dealers all know how to tamper with the mileage indicator de, and it's quite common in the trade even though illegal.

Interior upholstery looks ok to me. Creased leather from 19 years of use, but no obvious damage or discoloration. Of course, don't expect silk smooth new leather upholstery.

From pics and online profile, can only tell so much and only the surface. Important part is to bring along a car owner who can help check more thoroughly, esp the engine. And test drive, see whether got rough transmission, engine knocks, weird sounds, steering to one side etc.

Check whether the lot it was parked at has engine oil leaks on the ground, whether aircon is cold or have foul smell (remove any air fresheners and put inside glove compartment first).

Check if service records are available to see whether regular maintenance was done.

And of course, dun look too eager to buy it. The used car dealer can probably tell that you are purposely being nonchalant, but that's fine. He knows you are interested and is looking to bargain. See whether he can throw in further discounts or freebies.

Those "buyers" who are really not interested to buy and are just there to waste time, they can tell de, and won't waste their own time either.

If you can get Charles to go with you, I think best. He's the expert. I am still waiting for hin to organize a beginner's hands on mechanic class.

After you meet me, you'll get what is 'short'.

Also no surprise, the first two generations of MX-5 are among my top preference for cars. My size. :)

When it comes to parking brake, I've only been trained on a vehicle that requires me to step hard on the brake pedal, and then pull a hand lever to engage and lock. I'll leave you to guess what it is. (No, it is not civilian.) Real "fun" when it comes to moving off on steep slopes.
