There isn't a tipping culture at Li Bai, and the service there is excellent so I doubt you would need to use the line my sister used at the other restaurant

Nah, she is fiercely protective of my brother-in-law, to the point that our relationship has somewhat soured since her marriage.

However, my parents always tip the service captains and Maître D'Hôtel generously so that they always get the best table in the establishment, and so that they can show off the syncophancy shown to them by the service staff to their dining partners as a display of power and influence.

I try not to get involved with this because I'm just tagging along for the food

Their HKM is more than decent too.
