I am in a freshman in HSS currently and my curriculum has the option of taking up another major or another 2 minor. Should i plan for another major or minor? At the moment i am keen in taking these two minor, minor in communication studies and minor in translation. Any suggestion/advise on this? Should i take other minors like economics or business instead? Would it be a wiser choice?

Minor should be about something that really interests you. My friend took com studies minor before; he said it is really competitive and difficult to score. Not sure about translation though.

Do not take double major. The tiny advantage you get from it is simply not worth the amount of effort. Pick one major that you like and do well at it.

As for choosing a minor, you have to ask yourself why you want to do a minor. Is it because of your interest? Or is it because you want more job opportunities? If it's for interest, then go ahead. If it's for job opportunities, you can consider doing internships instead. Internships look good on your resume and they don't affect your grades.

to add on to this, employers find internships much more relevant than doing minors.
