Big thks to those who gave me real solutions!! U know who u are.. i now know how chromecast works or at least the basics.

u can only MIRROR to your TV wirelessly

so an Android TV dongle or MHL cable are the other solutions u can go for.

If prices is of no issues, you should be getting a TV box if you are going to use external apps to stream those dramas.

I bought one of the miracast/dnla dongle for my old tv set (useless once go digital )
Can stream from my phone as wifi display.
Question is can i stream from my notebook running XP?
Is there a miracast driver for XP?
Appreciate any tips.

Shouldn't be an issue - just try downloading the Chromecast app.

If you can install it, that means it's compatible.

It uses Wi-Fi to establish the connectivity and the rest is handled by the app and the dongle plugged to the TV.

I am using chromecast now also, but some taiwan variety shows cannot be air-ed on Singapore network

so bo bian use a VPN and screen only on ipad, other variety shows i cast on TV via chromecast

Btw i heard netflick can be stream via chromecast also

yes you can screen from your laptop/desktop via chromecast onto old tv (as long u have HDMI ports) and the video format should be mp4, u can download via google browser of the chromecast Addon and just drag the video onto the browser to stream, done!

you mean u are casting on notebook screen or tv?

I'm using my laptop and cast some show via mp4 or youtube video via web to my Hisense TV.
But the youtube quality stop at Full HD. If i get the 4k UHD chromecast, will it go up to 4k? or just only certain apps like Netflix can

hmmm interesting gadget... if my router and laptop at living room and i intend to use chromecast in my bedroom tv,, would casting from laptop to bedroom possible since not in sight of th chromecast

Are you talking about screen mirroring? In that case, you have to check whether you tablet support it with your TV.

I bought those china made "chromecast" which simply mirrors what you see on your tablet onto the TV. It gets the job done. I don't own a chromecast so cant help you there.

I bought Anycast from a Qoo10 vendor and I have problems connecting - have to try 5 to 6 times. After connecting, the connection will break off when I start streaming youtube. The seller claims that it is my TV hdmi connection problem cos it works fine on their TV. I have tried on 2 of my TVs (both are old sets about 6 years old) and experienced the same problem. Anyone with similar problems?

go to seller and test on their tv. yours could be faulty.

Thats what you get for buying cheap products. next time get a chromecast

I bought this android TV box instead of getting a Chromecast. So much bettter. It can do miracast , airplay for iphone also.
