I have taken both certifications ;)

Why?

Hey seawyk.

I am looking to join audit, preferably IT audit. I have a IT related degree (local uni), planning to take CISA this Spetember and doing CPA foundation to understand business better. I did an internship with a mid tier as an IT auditor and was not offered a full time position as they are overstaffed. My goal for now is to enter a Big 4 and do IT audit (ITGC, compliance,..). I've applied to the big 4 and other mid tiers 2-3 months ago and have not gotten any reply. What else do you think I can I do to better my chances of getting into IT audit?

You sound relatively young. Do be able to do IT Audit effectively, it helps to have some background in the areas you are trying to audit. Having the certs will help, but the experience will help you see things in a perspective other than what is offered in theory

Of course, you can pick up the experience along the way as a Auditor, but nothing beats having done it yourself

Just my two cents worth
