You need to fulfill at least 5 years in at least 2 of the 8 domains

Most IT folks are either infra guys or apps guys... so you will fit somewhere. you need to be able to show your experience is security related and also have a colleague vouch for your experience

Some folks embellish their experience, but end of the day, you suffer yourself when people see through you if you cannot do what you are supposed to be able to do

Most guys will have experience in the network domain, security engineering domain and probably the security management domains. you must be able to relate the stuff you did to the domains in the CBK

certain domain like physical security is common sense de. but usually they test you on more security processes and best practices.

CISA more lucrative, IMO. Cause many coy wants ppl who can handle audits and not craft new processes.

CISA, CISM and ISO are equally important when a person is heading into audits.

CISSP is general security, a wide scopes and an inch depth for security.

Even for CISA, CISM and ISO, it depend if you want hands-on or simple look look see see and talk talk.

There are no prefect certifications out there, even if ISO, SANS has a copy of it.

SANS also have a copy for CISSP.

P.S. When i mean copy, it is not those copy and paste, it is merely a certificate to prove your knowledge.
P.S.S Sans certification is open book.

Take the latest CISSP copy, look at the contents and the 8 domains.

Now split that 8 domains and fill your working experience. Did you exceed 5 years?

if not, go for associate.

Best is to ask another CISSP to endorse... get your colleagues who are CISSP to do that for u. My office got many many CISSP

Guys, how long u roughly take to study and prepare for cissp, as I'm not going for course, trying to aim to get mine in June but yet to start studying.

Experience in Siem deployment, security audit.

I normally recommend my students to allocate at least 6 months for preparation

What's the general feel of being CISSP certified. I think i meet the criterias and have sufficient practice in 3 domain area.

But my view on CISSP certified personnel are quite holy where they stand highly in the area they defend.

One past experience in a meeting where the consultant just threw out his cert when customer side question on the architecture design......and thereafter silence the ground to listen to his presentation.

And they have vast knowledge not just in design.....but also solutioning and product that could glue up the broken gap.

i feel that cissp certified open up more career opportunity toward higher/senior position. It also act as a support to your normal degree if you dont hold any honor or good degree that a company is looking for.

Thats because the the client is ignorant. Nothing to do with the Cert. There are good CISSPs and Bad CISSPs.
