Yesterday just landed back Singapore but found that luggage had cracked and a part even chipped off. Had reported to SATS at airport too. Anybody knows how much or how will they send me the claim?

I also bought travel insurance, so can I claim from both airport and insurance? If not claim from which one will be better?

TIA! :D

You can only claim from one. You Should always claim from airline first then claim Insurance but more often than not, airline will reject claim.

You have to do it right at the airport. Process is quite fast.

yup, you must immediately report to the airport luggage damaged counter.
they would issue u with some documents.
then u can send to the airline to claim :)
would be good if you have the luggage receipt ...

claim from airline..

u took which airline? some replace with a similar size luggage if they can't repair.

last year i took SQ, they replaced with another luggage, but i rejected, told them i wanted cash... they obliged. :) But i had to go down to the airport to take the cash.

Where they derived the amount? You got the receipt for the luggage?

sq baggage claim is super efficient. I had a luggage and its wheels were started to loosen up/almost coming off, made the report and 2 working days later, someone came to pick up the luggage for repair. 5 days later, the luggage was promptly delivered to my home.

Another claim: damage stroller, handle was cracked/plastic clip came off. Post letter to them, week later got reply that stroller sq can't repair. In the end, reimburse with cash which is more than 50% of the cost

no receipt. Just an estimate amount. mine was a camel active 28 inch soft expandable luggage.. they initially wanted to replace with a 28 inch brand new hush puppies luggage but I told them I wanted cash. :) I can't remember how much I got back though but I remembered that it was reasonable.

believe it has to be reported immediately on arrival after getting baggage.

I assume budget airline will compensate lower than full service airlines?

Depends ...

My encounter with jetstar ... They want you to get official quotation (with letter head) from 2 luggage repair companies, before they compensate you ... In the end, have to claim from insurance, since those luggage companies only quote thru email, not an official quotation with letter head ...

For scoot case, they would asked if we have purchased travel insurance...
if yes, they would tell you claim from travel insurance and not them ...

Friend claimed before from SQ, was good.
Luggage cracked ...
they sent one brand new one (quality not very good though) to their hotel 3 days later ...

Silkair luggage damage policy was terrible...
Silkair and SQ, though sister companies, their claim compensation policies differs ...
Anything that is attached to the luggage, if damaged, wont be compensated.
such as your wheels missing or drop off, handle spoilt , etc ...
