My iPhone was damaged earlier this year due to an accident while on a trip in Europe. Thinking of fixing my phone and claiming insurance with MSIG as my plan covers accidental damage to personal belongings but unsure if they will cover it as replacing the phone 1 for 1 with the authorised service center is pretty pricey.

How likely would MSIG reject my claim?

u need to submit a claim as soon as practical upon your return
u can get quote from service center on the iphone repair (or insurer may request) & submit it
unlikely will replace 1 for 1 ... mostly settle by cheque
depreciation on item will be applied
proof of purchase etc need to be provided

no point thinking about whether insurer will or will not cover or in what form. submit the claim & let insurer decide

you can contact their cso
for example, for luggage damaged, they have specially appointed agent
not sure about phone
u must check with them ...

later they have their own appointed agent, you use urs, later cant claim gg ...

I had the same incident early this year while travelling to Europe too.
1) Email MSIG, Seek for their advise, if claimable case they will give u the claim form.
2) Repair your phone, get the receipt
3) Needs some evidences such as your boarding pass, travel tickets (depends your case), photo of the damage, receipt of your purchased iphone etc

i provided everything they want and i'm able to claim it.
