Claiming Trip Cancellation

Hi guys,

I bought a Scoot flight to Taiwan last December, as well as FWD travel insurance. Wanted to check if anyone knows I will be able to claim back the flight tix expenses in cash from the insurance, since Scoot is (only) offering refunds as travel vouchers?

usually they would pay u 50% max, read from people post on the travel insurance thread ...

You need to rephrase your question. I read it as you have already flown last December.

Why don't your check with FWD. It will also depend on which tier of the policy you have bought.

As long the airline give u a refund, u cannot use travel advisory to claim for trip cancellation.

Trip cancellation cover for non-refundable bookings.

Eg, scoot reschedule ur flight, u cannot claim trip cancellation.

That’s nice. Scoot voucher imo not a good deal because still need to factor fare difference.

Same goes for jetstar .... they waived off the $60 per person per sector change flight fees. however price diff still applies ...

Should allow free cancellation and full refund in cash. I don’t want any vouchers

How about Expedia? I’ve booked SIA tickets through them for May 2020. Tickets bought in Jan 2020. The cancellation policy is still on SIA right?

u would need to go through expedia, since your purchase is made from them, and not from SQ website directly ...

Bookings from expedia or other OTA usually would come with a booking id, which u can use to access the booking on the respective airline website.
however, since the booking is made from OTA, and not directly with the airline, any changes would have to go through the OTA. Same goes to hotel too ...

Yes, cancellation policy will follow the airline. Expedia can charge a service fee for the refund/cancellation.

You'll have to do the refund/cancellation thru Expedia.
