SAF, wasting people's time and money everywhere....

I was scheduled for a HSP panel thing, but I changed the date online quite early, and checked that everything was updated with the new date including My Callup and the new SAF100.

But I still get an SMS reminding me to go on the original date a few days before that date.

So I assume there is some system error cockup (again) because I did book the new date and had confirmed at NS Portal that it was booked. So I ignore the SMS and go on the new date instead.

Then on the new date, I arrive at the medical center, and lo and behold, the namesheet dun have my name, but nvm, I write my name down on the spot and the spot and took my blood test, then go for the followup review on 11 Sept.

Then 9 days after my followup review, I get a letter telling me I have committed an offence of "NEGLECTS TO PERFORM A LAWFUL DUTY" under section 22(1) of the SAFA - Defaulting Medical Review, and I'm supposed to report to Clementi camp in No 4 on a weekday.

At the same time, I checked my callup calendar and I find the followup review on 11 Sept still there. So I dunno if the system/clerks made a mistake with the first appointment or the second appointment.

On a separate note, I had a rebooking issue last year as well, when I also rebooked the date of the first HSP panel. The IT system did not screw up that time, but the medic dropped me an email and missed call (that number cannot accept return calls) only 2-3 days before my appointment to tell me there was no medical officer available that day. So I missed seeing that email among all the junk and wasted my time travelling to camp that day. Of course I complained like hell, but I did not get any concrete followup then either. :slant:

The problem with enforced conscription is that there will be people who:
1) Cannot be bothered about the quality of their work
2) Cannot wait to leave NS
3) Cannot be fired

But are nevertheless placed in administrative positions where their utter incompetence can screw up the lives of other people. :frus:

just try to tell them nicely and do not anyhow sign anything.

they are gonna go into "cover their own ass" mode.

for all we know, they are gonna just say sorry and tell you that the charge will be waived and tell you to sign a form acknowledging that the charge is waived.

but what they did not tell you is that waiver means the charge is there but they are not meting out the punishment only. so it is still 1 strike for you but just no fine.

so be very careful of how they word everything they say to you and if don't understand, don't sign.

Ok. Thanks for the info.

I heard of similar things happening, like can't find ur name, etc etc.

I always wonder which part of the signal chain messed up
