CLOSED: 14TB WD Elements external HDD

Hi, I bought two external HDDs during Black Friday and decided to keep only one so letting go of the extra.

The item is brand new, unboxed for the purpose of testing. SMART test results below.

This item is from the US so warranty is with Western Digital US. A soft copy of the order details will be provided for warranty purposes. It is not clear whether Western Digital Singapore will honor the warranty so please assume no local warranty. 3 days personal warranty against defects to give you peace of mind even though I just tested this.

Item comes with an extra year of warranty so total of 3 years from 27 November 2021 (extra year is stated in the soft copy of the order details).

Price is FIXED at SGD300. Deal at City Hall MRT (weekdays) or Boon Lay MRT please. Payment in cash.

Bro, I had bought such HDD from Amazon US before, 5TB and 8TB. Both kaput during warranty period. Went to local WD website to RMA. Both were accepted.

Also checked warranty status with your disks' serial. WD reported both in warranty till 03 Jan 2024.

Thanks. I'm aware that WD Singapore has accepted before. However, some people mentioned that they got rejected so managing expectations here.

Well, you live and you learn. I am surprised that WD Singapore declined to honour the international warranty policy stated on WD.com

WD's HDD warranty policy is based on region and not international. Details here

That is why you have "out of region" under your warranty status.

WD Singapore when they honor a US warranty will usually state that it is a one-off exception.

Thanks for the up. I did buy a WD elements HDD from a carouseller and warranty status also stated out of region but he reassured me that WD Singapore will honour it; now I know better.
